The Problem With PHDs IN UX

I want to preface this with saying I take no issue will all PHD holders some of these people are the smartest and most empathetic people i know and I am proud to call them a friend

That being said there are a particular breed of PHD holders who haven’t held a job. (not out of academia). Who attempt to or even enter UX with the biggest sense of entitlement I’ve personally witnessed of all Junior UX Researchers. Sorry folks. The harsh realities once you exit the ever so gatekeepy red tape of academia is this.

In theory verses in practice are not the same thing. Those papers you’ve published? The dense and intentionally difficult to read papers ? Difficult for anyone who didn’t get a PHD or didn’t do their dissertation on the exact same subject matter?

Yah sure perhaps one or two people if you are lucky may end up reading them. Does that mean they will retain anything from your papers ? No.

Do you imagine your research reports on heuristics, usability, ect will be written and present r the same as why without you boring An entire room to death ?

Part of being good at your job isn’t your research findings sounding ultra smart.

Your attempt to prove your intellectual superiority over the zero people you’re competing against will make you a failure at your job.
