Rants About Tech and Life

I am a consultant in AI in NYC . Sam Altmans world tour talking to government leaders about putting regulations into place to to the “catastrophic” possibilities of AI. Is a farce. Altman is Attempting to destroy all competition on this end. Because if open AI appears to be the more ethical concerning frankly unfounded fear mongering threats they got from sci fi movies. That effectively makes it far more difficult for any competition to arise if regulations are put into place under the guise of an exaggerated catastrophic threat from AI that hasn’t so much as passed the Lovelace test or come close. I think what you are focusing on is the wrong thing. The real problem as briefly mentioned in this post is monopolies. They kill innovation. Because despite the insatiably greedy money hoarding libertarian white boys of Silicon Valley. There are people out there thinking and building and creating fascinating things. Technology that will either be acquired and implemented into other aspects of the ecosystem’s of monopolies or tech that will never see the light of day. So be it google Amazon or Open AI or all there these companies don’t want to compete with the open source community. The core experiences of their current and most popular product offers has taken a dive. So frankly any prestige associated with them has gone down the drain. And googles investment in Claude is not its first investment in anthropic. And yes it’s so suspenseful who will win. Frankly I’m more concerned with what the rest of us will lose in the aftermath.
