Agreed recently my boss had me working on a dating site and once I realized the obvious nature of what the site could potentially become the lack of verification of its members and its large potential for illegal activity I had to ethically refuse to work on it which unfortunately got me fired. But tinder and all the other apps already include so many “dark UI patterns” to get people going back to the app and like you said trick people into paying for features or subscriptions they never wanted. I believe in being an ethical designer. In addition the FTC is now taking notice largely in part Bc it is or at least should be illegal to “design for addiction”
